Bond of the Vermeulen Family

Any person, who has already reached the age of 18 years who has the surname Vermeulen or whose parent(s)/guardian/spouse is a direct descendant of any of the two recognized progenitors Jan Willemsz and Dirk Cornelisz, may apply for membership. The constitution of the Bond also provide for a person to become a Friend of the Bond.

WHAT THE BOND OFFERS YOU

• The Bond's main purpose is to promote pride in the Vermeulen family name, the strengthening and maintenance of social and cultural ties among members of the Bond and thus to build and promote contact with descendants.
• The Bond promotes cohesion among members and looks after the interests of the Vermeulen family.
• The Vermeulen Genealogical Registers in book form, the updated genealogical register of 2019 (on Cd/Dvd) and the electronic/digital version (pdf) of the genealogical register are provided much cheaper to Bond members and Friends of the Bond. See under the heading purchases for price list.
• The 2020 Memorial Edition is provided free of charge to members.
• Ancestry Charts are available on request and will be issued free of charge to Members and Friends of the Bond.
• Members get free access to the archived information on the Google Cloud torage platform.
• The newsletter Die Meulenaar is only sent to Bond members and Friends.
• The Coat of Arms may only be used and displayed by Bond members / friends of the Bond.

FOR ATTENTION OF NEW AND EXISTING MEMBERS

Membership fees are R75.00 per member and R50.00 per friend per year. (This membership fee has been increased to the above amounts on 1 March 2012 - the first increase since inception.)

Membership fees for members are annually renewable for the financial year and payable annually before 30 April. Proof of payment must be confirmed by email to vermeulenbond00@gmail.com. Use your name and membership number on the deposit slip as reference number. If you do not have our bank details, contact us at the email above. 

New applicants must complete an application form and send it by e-mail, together with proof of payment. The application form can be obtained from vermeulenbond00@gmail.com

In order to ensure the survival of the Bond and to promote growth, all Vermeulen descendants are called upon to become members of the Bond and all existing members are requested to pay their membership fees annually on time.
